The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations in India adopting this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, has confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working out key details, including finding an appropriate window in the cricketing calendar and deciding on the final number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues have become vital scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide a platform for local talent to gain recognition and potentially move up to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, after the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
